Mechanical Engineer

Starting Position and Route to dream job

The starting position for a mechanical engineer is usually being a Junior Engineer, or Field Service Engineer. That is most likely the position that I will be in after I graduate with my degrees and find a employing job. That is going to be my route as I learn more and more on the job when I start and overtime gain enough knowledge and experience and move up in position and hopefully one day become a leading mechancial engineer for creating machines and projects.

School Options

The schools that offer these are MIT, UF, Stanford, and UC. I want to not go that far away, so I am aimming to get into UF as it is the closest to me. If I do end up being able to attend a college as good as MIT though I will take that chance and go further away to graduate with the degree at MIT as it is better.

What is the pay?

A Mechanical Engineers pay can vary, but on average the starting salary for a new engineer would be around 60k. And after a while around 5 years, on average the salary increases to 100k+. And if you somehow manage to work for a big time company such as Apple, or Meta you can even make 300k-900k annually. I aim to become a Mechanical Engineer for a long time as it will hopefully be my life career so I should be able to make a decent amount of income as being a Mechanical Engineer pays well.

History and Cool Facts

The history of mechanical engineering dates way back into ancient times even as creations as simple as the wheel and axel were some of the first instances of mechanical engineering being done. As we evolved overtime we got smarter and smarter allowing us to create more advanced machines like cars, to Iphones, and todays modern AI tech.

Cost of Living

I plan to live in Destin, FL which means I have to make enough money as an mechanical engineer to be able live there. For a single adult they usually need to make 40k-55k+ annually. And being a starting engineer already gets you around 60k annually so living in Destin should be good.
